This 36-hour course prepares the participant to be able to perform fire fighting functions at a minimum nationally recognized level under direct supervision.
The targeted audience is individuals who have completed the minimum fire fighting training requirements as specified in Comm 30.08, Employment standards (1) [3-3.2] of Wisconsin Administrative Code, Department of Commerce, Chapter 30, Fire Department Safety and Health, and desire or are required to increase their knowledge and skills base to next level.
This course when taken in subsequent to completion of the Entry Level Fire Fighter Part 1 (30 hours) and Part 2 ( 30 hours) courses, is designed to provide the Fire Fighter I candidate with the additional information needed to meet the job performance requirements (JPRs) defined in NFPA 1001 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, 2008 Edition, Sections 5.2 through 5.5. The participant must also take the Hazardous Materials Operation level course in to order to meet the remainder of the NFPA Fire Fighter I JPRs.
