Fire Certification Look-Up System Information

The Wisconsin Technical College System provides this look-up system as a service to fire fighters, fire departments, and the general public. The names and certification status of firefighters in the state of Wisconsin can be obtained via the Look-up System.

Instructions for using Fire Service Certification Lookup System:

There are two ways to search the Wisconsin Technical College System Fire Certification Look-Up System.

1. The quickest way to look up someone's certification status is to enter the individual's certification number*. Only the five digit numeric portion of the number (not the alphabetic prefix) should be keyed into the Certification Number search field.
   
   
2. If you don't know the person's certification number, you can search for the person by last name or the first part of a partial last name. A list of individuals matching the last name will appear on the left side of the screen. Choose the individual from the list to display their certification status.

*The certification number is assigned by the Wisconsin Technical College System Office. The certification numbers are distributed to individuals when they successfully complete both a Wisconsin Written and Practical Certification Examination. Certification numbers are also printed on the Wisconsin Certificates. The certification number remains the same for each level, however, the prefix changes; i.e., FF I (A00001) FF II (B00001), etc. A list of prefixes is as follows:

PLEASE NOTE : Individuals receiving an "O" prefix for Fire Fighter I have met the requirement of Hazardous Materials Operations of NFPA 1001, 2008 Edition. This information is also reflected in the Online Look-Up System. A small amount of certificates were issued between July 2008 and January 2009 reflecting HazMat Ops completion without an IFSAC seal, however, the IFSAC number associated with that seal can also be found here. The International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) assigned number (if our office assigns it) is also available but not searchable.
