Progress to Date:
A statewide Advanced Technology Work Group has been formed to anticipate
commercialization of new technologies that may impact the workforce needs
of Wisconsin. The principle purposes are to:
- Identify emerging technologies that have commercialization potential.
- Collaborate on initiatives in entrepreneurship education/business incubation.
- Foster professional development and exchange of ideas between UW and WTCS
faculty in emerging and converging technologies.
Initial discussions produced plans to move forward on:
- Developing a joint proposal with the UW Small Business Development Center
to the Department of Commerce to establish entrepreneurial referral centers
- Develop instructional capacity in nanotechnology
- Link with UW Madison student entrepreneurship competitions
- Developing a "clearing house" of information on emerging and
converging technologies
